                              by H. R. H. Tuanku Bainun

Raja Permaisuri Perak Darul Ridzuan

       in memory of

The Malayan Teachers’ College Kirkby, Liverpool 1951 – 61

The function was held in conjunction with the college’s graduation ceremony.  On behalf of all Kirkbyites Her Royal Highness Tuanku Bainun presented an LCD projector to the college. In her speech she called upon the graduates of the college in Bukit Mertajam to set up an alumni as was done by the former students of the Malayan Teachers’ College in Kirkby. She pointed out that although the Kirkby College operated only from 1951 to 1961 after which it was closed down, many of its former students are still active.

Tuanku Bainun, who is herself a Kirkbyite, announced that to commemorate the contributions and history of the college, she was honoured to name the hall Dewan Kirkby.

Royal Declaration : HRH Tuanku Bainun signing the Dewan Kirkby plaque which will be mounted at the Hall.
